Luxury At The Liberty

I’ve been fortunate over the years to visit many beautiful cities all over the world.  I’ve seen the most infamous buildings, the most breathtaking views and have slept in some pretty swanky places.  As strange as it might sound though,  I must confess that my favorite place to stay is actually here in New England.  It is in Boston, at The Liberty Hotel.

The building where The Liberty Hotel resides used to be the Charles Street Jail back in the day.  Opening as a luxury hotel in September 2007, they kept many of the architectural features of the jail, but brought an eccentric flair into the design that is just phenomenal.  It is located at the foot of Beacon Hill and its bars and restaurants are currently some of the “it” places to be on the weekends in Boston.

Upon arrival to the hotel, you take a long escalator up to the main floor where you check in.  This in itself is something to marvel at.  There is so much to take in visually, you have a hard time even knowing where to begin.  Once at the desk to check in, you are offered a glass of champagne to get your stay at the Liberty started on a high note.  From that point on, it only gets better.

The room types come in different tiers such as ones with views, ones without, suites, etc…  The rooms are pricey (I won’t lie to you), but for Boston you sort of expect shelling out for a decent hotel if you want to be in a decent location.  (That said, the hotel does have many room deals throughout the year, and I have gotten lucky on prices before with booking online with travel sites such as Kayak and Orbitz).  The rooms themselves are fully stocked with all the amenities you could imagine, along with white bath robes and a room service menu to die for.

On a side note, it is here in my favorite hotel that I discovered the most lush bath products in the world, Molton Brown.  The Liberty supplies each room with Molton Brown soaps, lotions, shampoos and conditioners…and every single scent I’ve tried is out of this world.  Molton Brown is made in England, and their product line includes items like lotions, body wash, perfume, cologne and they also carry an entire separate men’s line.  Like the Liberty, Molton Brown items aren’t cheap, but sometimes paying the extra few dollars is worth the treat to yourself.  I assure you, if you give it a try,  it will be worth every penny…and if you are a deal hunter like I am, you can usually find whatever Molton Brown product you are looking for on Ebay for a lower price.

Staying at The Liberty Hotel is more of an event or an experience rather than a place to sleep.  After staying there for the first time, I was completely and utterly hooked.  From the architecture, to the rooms, to the electricity in the air when it’s filled with people…this is a hotel that you cannot resist wanting to come back to.  If you ever get to Boston, I highly recommend a stay at The Liberty.  Give it a try and live it up like you deserve!  I promise that you will not be disappointed.
